Why Restring Your Racquet

The more you play, the more the tension in your strings changes. Whether you need tennis racquet stringing or a different style of racquet, we perform custom stringing on new purchases or restring your trusted racquet to get it back in shape.

Restringing keeps your game in peak form. You may notice your racquet losing its “punch” at the net. As tension drops, strings stretch more at impact, cushioning the ball and reducing that crisp response—which leads to loss of control and inconsistent play. Restring as often as you need so your style of play stays consistent.

When to change your strings

A simple rule: restring as many times per year as you play per week. So if you play once a week, restring once a year; if you play three times a week, restring three times a year (about every four months).

  • Loss of tension — Power and control drop, or the string feels “softer” at impact.
  • Frayed string — Strands coming apart mean the string is at the end of its life.
  • Changes in feel — Shots don’t go where they used to or you feel a lack of precision.

An ageing string also becomes stiffer, which can stress your arm and increase the risk of issues like tennis elbow. Regularly changing your strings helps your performance, extends the life of your racquet, and protects your body.

String Gauge & Tension

String gauge and tension depend on your style of play. We’ll help you find the right fit for your next match.

Gauge

  • Higher gauge number = thinner string — More spin, elasticity, and feel. Thinner string is more sensitive.
  • Thicker string — More durability. We’ll help you find the right balance for your game.

Tension

Unless you have a preference, we use the default tension for your racquet make and model, then adjust by two or three pounds per stringing until we find the perfect fit.

  • Lower tension — More power, durability, and feel.
  • Higher tension — More control and precision.

Types of string

  • Monofilament (polyester) — Popular with competitive players. Great control and durability; can be less comfortable. Ideal for hard hitters who want maximum spin.
  • Multifilament — Softer feel and more power. Good for comfort and reducing arm stress. A solid choice for an all-around game.
  • Natural gut — Often considered best for comfort and power. More expensive and less durable, but excellent for players who want maximum feel on the court.

Pickleball Paddle Overgrips

The right grip on your pickleball paddle is essential to improving your game. Over time, your paddle’s grip will wear down or unravel.

We offer a variety of overgrip options and professional pickleball paddle overgrip wrapping. We’ll regrip your paddle to add extra tackiness and comfort while keeping durability. Keep your game in top shape—reach out for pricing and turnaround.

Racquet Grip Replacement

Having the right hold on your racquet is critical for placing the ball with the spin and speed you want. A grip that’s too small can cause discomfort, because players tend to squeeze harder on an undersized grip. Struggling with the wrong grip makes shots harder to control and reduces solid contact for a powerful hit.

We can help you determine the right size, whether you’re choosing a new racquet or selecting an overgrip. Over time, your racquet’s grip will show signs of use—wearing down where your hand contacts it or unraveling. Keep your grip and your game in top shape with our grip installation service.
